Meet the Best NYC Tour Guide
Andrew D. Smith, the founder of Metropolitan Walks, got his start devising walking tours of New York City for family and friends while still in middle school.
Since then, he's learned how to combine exciting narrative with rich information that leaves guests laughing for two hours -- without noticing how much they're learning in the process.
Andrew received a "star" of distinction from the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs for achieving an outstanding score on the Department's Professional Licensing Examination for NYC Sightseeing Guides.
His tour repertoire covers everything from Dutch history to today's headlines, touching on architecture, city politics, pop culture, financial shenanigans, and much more.
He combines all these individually interesting topics to leave walkers with a sum that is greater than its parts: a sense of what makes New York unique and how it got to be this way.
When Andrew isn’t conducting walking tours, he enjoys walking solo around New York or reading about its history and people.
