Frequently Asked Questions

Are reservations required?
No. Just turn up at the scheduled time and place. No one is turned away. If you contact us to let us know you're coming in advance, we'll be happy to help with directions and wait for you up to 10 minutes in case you're late.

What are the scheduled times and places?
The Wall Street & Ground Zero Walking Tour leaves from Broadway and Morris Street at 11 a.m. The Grand Central & Times Square Walking Tour leaves at 2 p.m. from the northeast corner of 8th Ave. and 42nd St. Both tours are held every day but Tuesday and during scheduled breaks (Sept. 14-22, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day).

What do walking tours cost?
$20 cash per person, per walking tour -- one of the better values in New York.

How much ground do the walks cover?
Each walking tour covers about 1.5 miles of Manhattan pavement, always on flat terrain.

What if the weather is bad?
We ignore New York's precarious climate and hold all walking tours no matter what Mother Nature does.

How can we recognize the guide?
Your guide will be holding Metropolitan Walks brochures.

Is it dangerous to take a walking tour of New York?
Walkers face little danger from criminals but some threat from reckless drivers and uneven sidewalks. Customers brave these hazards at their own risk.

Are private walking tours available?
Yes. If you want a private version of an existing tour, you need only book a week in advance. If you want a custom walking tour, centered on some neighborhood or theme, please give us at least two weeks to create it. Prices vary with the difficulty of the assignment.
